Christian
Basics Bible Study
The
Christian Basics Bible Study, CBBS, is set up to help you understand several
foundational concepts about Christianity. The studies are built around
six questions:
What
is the Bible?
Who is God?
Who is Jesus Christ?
Who are we? (What kind of being are humans?)
What is salvation?
What is the church?
My approach
in these studies is not sectarian--though I am sure that some of my conclusions
will not agree with those of other Christians. My goal is to anchor what
the lessons say not in "This is what I think." or, "This is what
my church teaches." but in what the Bible has to say.
We begin with a consideration of the Bible
because that will be the foundation for the rest of our studies.
Just in case you would like to know more about me or the church that I pastor,
you can check out our website, or drop me a line.
These studies are flexible and can be used a number of ways, but what I have in
mind is something like this:
If you are interested request the first lesson.
I'll send an E-mail to you with:
Some basic explaination
of the subject. I'll include some links
for further information, where
appropriate.
Some Bible passages for you to read. I'll
include a link where
you can read the Bible online.
Some questions to help you get into the subject and
discover
the truth. These questions are
not to see if you can come
up with the "right" answer,
but are designed to help you
understand the truth we are
studying.
There will be a section for you to respond with
your questions
and comments.
You'll send your responses back to me.
I'll look it over and make any comments that I think might be
helpful.
We can go back and forth this way as many times as you would
like.
When you are ready request the next lesson and I'll send it.
The plan right now is to send the lessons in an e-mail. I thought of
sending them as an attached file, but some folk can't or choose not to download
files. (A good practice unless you are sure of the source.) I felt
this would be simpler, and more useful.
You can either copy the appropriate part of the lesson e-mail to a reply and
insert your answers, comments, and questions at the proper place or just send a
separate e-mail. Whatever works for you.
Since this is a new venture we may have some bugs to work out, but I am sure we
can handle it.
If this looks like something in which you would be interested, just send me a
reply requesting lesson #1, and we'll get started. I'm looking forward to
it.
Expectantly,
