Old Dominion Cruiser Club, Chapter 08

In the spring of 2008, I joined some folks in starting a riding club. Our future president checked into several different clubs and met some people from the Old Dominion Cruisers Club. He liked the club's presence and established a local chapter. I got named the Vice-President. Fortunately Jazzman is a great president, so my responsibilities are limited to falling in and riding along - and I get to put this patch on the back of my vest, pins, all kinds of cool stuff.

The club has a website, (http://www.ccusa08.org/) that has more official information available. (I had some pics and posted them and descriptions of the adventures here.)

April, 2008 Once the Old Dominion Cruisers Club got underway, we started taking rides. One of the first ones was to ride the new Victorys. Although it was a gray day, we dodged rain and were able to ride the bikes. Here's the hotrod Arlen Ness Jackpot. It's fast, loud and windy. The fat tire makes a difference in the handling in that it has to be steered as much as leaned around turns
April, 2008 Being old guys, we had to check out the Vison. It has all kinds of cool stuff, like a little compartment with an iPod cable. Once hooked up, the iPod is controlled by the bike's controls. So, in an attempt to provide the group music germane to the situation, I hooked my iPod up and scrolled around with the hope of playing Spiderbait's Riders in the Sky. I'm telling everyone around, "Gather around, this will be cool! I have the best song!" Not having my reading glasses ( remember we're old guys) I didn't get the iPod right. I touch off the bike's sound system and out comes Michael Jackson's "ABC." very loud. Oops... All semblance of cool quickly runs down my leg.. I unhooked the iPod and slinked away in an unsuccessful attempt to generate invisibility.

In spite of my bonehead iPod move, it was a good ride and it was nice to be able to ride and check out the Vision and the other Victorys!
April, 2008 The Old Dominion Cruisers Club Victory Commercial

May, 2008 On Memorial Day weekend a couple of us rode to DC to Rolling Thunder. We're on the Arlington Bridge (I think that's the official name) watching the parade. We were at a point the bikers could open it up, so Rolling Thunder lived up to its name.
May, 2008 Here's Rich, our Ride Captain taking a break next to mall where a bunch of bikes are parked. It was a hot day, so we just walked next ot the parade, up to the Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool, checked out the stage then got back on the road. Millions of bikes, beautiful day, it was a good ride.

June, 2008 We took a ride to Luray to a rally at a bikeshop up there - Outlanders. The rally had a military theme with this bike along with other military rolling stock.
June, 2008 It was a very hot day, so we spent a lot of time under a tent waiting for the Marine Silent Drill Team. They were snappy, very impressive, then we rode home through some rain. Again, a nice ride.

?, 2008 Here's a pic of our club riding along nicely staggered. I don't remember the destination of the ride, like it matters anyway. This was a ride that a bee hit me in the forehead, stinging the hell out of me. This became the first of several stings I seem to be privileged to obtain while riding. I seem to be the only one in the group with this talent, not really an honor from my standpoint!

Stay tuned for more, and don't hesitate to check out the club's website - -http://www.ccusa08.org/. Contact Jazzman for other club details and if you're local, come ride along.
