Had a quick look at your page; thought I would take a couple of
happy snaps of my Grey and send them to you. We have had the Tractor since it
was 12 months old; Its a British (Standard Motor Co) built unit built in 1951.
As you can see from the manifold cover it is a Petrol / Kero engine. It is
still relatively original and is still has a 6Volt electrical system.
I would in respect of your fire story draw your attention to the
exhaust system. In Australia it gets tinder dry during the summer, in many
areas. You will find the exhaust system, you have described, only in Orchard
situations (or non agricultural use) in Australia, this being due to the chimney
type getting hooked in trees. The chimney type keeps the exhaust out of
mischief in grassland situations (these are of a spark arresting design). The
vast majority of fires are due to other causes (slashers hitting rocks etc.)
During the Fire season here: It is mandatory to carry a (minimum) 9 Litre fire
knapsack on all tractors.
