George's vw George just bought this beautiful, Clementine '71 Super. He states, "This car is 99.9% rust free (I found a couple of pinhead-sized emerging bubbles). The floor is flawless and original. The paint was redone 10 years ago (correct color) and a 9 out of 10. Pretty obvious that the engine is good - I drove the car 925 miles to get it home. No MacPherson shimmy at all, the top is perfect (supposedly original) and the interior is nearly flawless." Looks like George found a real treasure!!!
Matt writes of his '62: "Thought I might send you a photo of Tessa. Have restored, and driven her for 7 years. This is the cabrio in the Guiness Book. Not to brag, I was just in the right place at the right time. Many car shows, many memories, many miles. Favorite car in the world! Tessa
Tom's vw Tom writes: " It's a 1966, and I've had it for about 8 years. With the exception of the engine and lowering, it's all stock. I just redid the top and interior."

Karsten writes: "A lot of stuff you're talking about [on the website] remembers me of the restoration of my own '72 convertible...The second hobby of mine is collecting VW toys and literature, so I decided to create a home page to share my experiences with other VW enthusiasts. The ID is: http://www.blue-bug.de/

Jim Leamy's 1970 Vert Jim Leamy writes: "Thought you might like a photo of my 1970 Convertible, bought from a little old lady with 73K miles on it. It's pretty much all original except for a new top and an old repaint. not too many of these on the road in CT..."
"This is my 1978 VW convertible." Lee McCallister Shreveport, Louisiana Lee's 1978 Convertible
'66 blue convertible A 66' vert from Rancho Cucamonga! Restored by Aaron Breza.
Ed Waite sends this picture and comments: "This is Pam's 1979 V-dub convertable. It is a Champaign Edition. She has had it for about 9 years (?). She re-apolstered the seats herself (used to do that professionally anyway) and then had a new top and head liner installed about 5 years ago. She is the second owner of the car not counting the dealers. It came to Ohio from North Carolina and had recurring problems with the fuel pump. After she replaced three pumps I (husband) had the dealer remove and flush the fuel tank. Inside they found the vw part label from the gas cap. It had been floating around inside since new and now and then it would cover the outlet and shut down the engine and sometimes burn out the fuel pump. Fixed now and runs very well. Still less than 90,000 miles. She seldom drives it in the winter and it always garaged." Pam's '79 convertible
1969 Finnish Cabriolet Hello! Thank you for very nice web pages. My VW Cab: -model:1969 -1300cc engine (at the moment) -It "came" to Finland 4-5 years ago from Hambourg. It is an ex-police car in Germany (lot of special wires for police equipment.) Restored in 96-97 by owner and friends. All original, except wheels, front bumper, and lowering. Sebastian.Vuorisalo
Heres my 64' vert. It's all stock right now although I plan to have it lowered, 5-spoke Empi wheels installed and have a bigger engine put in it down the road. -- Dan Benson, Nor Cal Dan's '64
Jose's 63 Production date, 07.01.1964 left factory on 13.01.1964, delivered from Hamburg to São Paulo, Brazil, in a French boat called LENNEC, arrived 05.02.1964. Chassis code 6.082.075; Engine number 8.254.141; Color L 360 Sea Blue; The first owner of this cabrio was Volkswagen of Brazil (from Feb 64 to Nov 70). From Nov 1970 to Jun 1985 it stayed with the second owner and from Jun 85 to Jan 99 with the third before I purchased it. I have the first invoice and the first documentation of this car ! --José Rubens de Macedo Filho
My beetle is an all original 1979. It has been in the family since it was new!!!! Never driven in the winter. Back when I had time, I entered the car in the Stock Convertible class and placed First one year and Second the next. (The rules were changed and they put Stock and custom together-- pretty hard to compete with a car painted the week before!!!) 79 convertible
78 convertible Cool Site! I just got back into Beetles after a few years, and picked up this 1978 cabrio from the original owner. I plan to nix the fuel injection and go with dual Kadrons, new wheels, and maybe a touch of lowering in the front, but not much else... I like the look pretty much the way it is. Nice thing, though, is that it still is a cool ride the way it is... no rush on the resto! Frank Gorhau, Omaha VW Club
I'm in the process of replacing the top on this 1973 convertible. My father and I rebuilt this from a total wreck. Dad bought it from the original owner and I bought it from him... Still under 60,000 miles. Darwin Fitzgerald 73 convertible
76 convertible My black beauty was built in 1976. A complete restoration is necessary, to get it through our German TÜV (Technical Surveillance Organisation) that checks every German car every other year. If they believe the car is not roadworthy, it must be fixed prior to driving again. There is a saying car owners of old cars use: "We stay together till we get divorced from the TÜV". Well in my case this saying came true, so my beloved Baby has to sleep in the Garage until I´ll awaken it again.Michael Gutmann
Thanks for the offer to have a picture posted to your excellent site. We have owned our 1970 VW for almost eight years and it is a joy to drive and show. It was restored over a period of three years by myself and Anne, my wife. Those rails and floor pans make you wonder if it is going to be worth it, but it really is. The car is pretty much stock except for colors of paint and upholstery.
