Description
Supervision:
The Part-time Youth Minister will work under the supervision of the Christian
Education Committee and the Pastor.
Scope of Work:
The Youth Minister will be responsible for the teaching and discipling the Middle School, High School, and College students of the church.
Qualifications:
The Youth Minister should feel they are called by God to this field of ministry. The candidate should have training and/or experience in youth ministry. He/She must hold to the basic principals of the Reformed Faith. The youth minister must have a relationship with Christ that is reflected in their public life. He/she must have leadership abilities, have Christ-like love for people, and set a positive, moral and ethical example.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all youth and children’s programs of the church
2. Conduct weekly youth meeting/Bible study, and teach weekly Sunday school class.
3. Implement/plan special events for youth (example: Retreats, camps, recreational activities, etc.)
4. Promote and publicize youth activities in coordination with the Christian Education Committee. Work with choir director in planning and carrying out seasonal programs (example: Christmas program, Worship service)
5. Organize and conduct outreach to youth and their families
6. Counsel youth as needed and requested
7. Obtain sufficient chaperones for *all youth events
8. Coordinate planning with the Christian Education Committee
9. Assist pastor in areas relating to the youth
10. Prepare quarterly report of youth activities to be presented at session meetings in conjunction with the Christian Education Report.
11. Plan and Coordinate Youth Fund Raisers
* It is the Policy of the Christian Education Committee that at least two adult/ parent be present during all youth related activities.
