Crossroads Baptist Church had it's early beginnings with approximately 15 people meeting together in a home in Staunton in April of 1985. As growth came, they met in several different temporary rental facilities in the Fishersville area. In 1987, 30 acres of land was acquired at the church's present location. The first auditorium and educational building was dedicated on April, 17, 1988. The church experienced good growth, but in the spring of 1990 the pastor resigned and the church experienced some turmoil. With the church still struggling, Pastor Bill Johnson was called. In September of 1990, Pastor Bill Johnson relocated here and assumed the ministry with a congregation of about 35 in attendance. Though they were small in number, they had a great desire to see souls saved and believed God could still do a great work here in the Shenandoah Valley area.God once again honored that small number of men and women. Within 6 short years of time, Crossroads saw an indebtedness of $350,000 paid off, leaving the first original facility completely debt free. As the church continued to be blessed by God,, the church body voted to construct an educational building that included a fellowship hall and family life center. It was completed and dedicated in November 1998. Once again, God miraculously provided. We went into that building almost debt free.
The church still continues to grow and meet needs of many families in our area. Our newest 600 seat auditorium started construction in 1999. We dedicated the new auditorium on June 4, 2000. We praise and thank God for the many souls that have been saved and lives changed here at Crossroads and trust we will continue being a ministry God will use to reach families.
We have already in the making, other phases planned for future growth and expansion. We plan to add a 350 seat balcony as the need arises. New parking lots, and several new ministries will also be forthcoming.
We trust Crossroads will be a church for Family and Friends that will last a lifetime. More importantly, a place for your faith to grow and last throughout eternity.
